The Director, Program Management will be responsible for direct day-to-day management of programs and projects for key customers, strategic internal programs, and will also have responsibility to build and guide a small team of Program and Project Managers in the Telematics Devices group.


  • Provide primary program interface to key customers
  • Responsible for day-to-day coordination of multiple concurrent projects to achieve successful completion of project objectives
  • Work with customers to agree on and lock down product and program requirements up front; document and communicate requirements to customer and cross functional CalAmp team
  • Create project plans covering integrated schedule with interdependencies, resources, risks, quality and commercialization
  • Provide leadership to cross-functional teams to insure coordination and synchronization of program activities, dependencies and milestones
  • Monitor program metrics, report project status, and provide measured escalation
  • Manage program risk and develop mitigation strategies
  • Monitor development and product costs to insure program success
  • Manage a small team of Program and Project Managers who will lead programs and projects for key customers and strategic internal development programs
  • Assist in establishing and enhancing project management systems and processes across the TSBU organization commensurate with size and growth of the organization
  • Institutionalize and foster best practices
  • Focus on continuous process improvement


Must Haves

  • 7+ years of Technical Management experience
  • At least 1 year of Program Management
  • Experience in a customer facing role
  • Customer oriented, responsive, and commercially aware
  • Background in the hardware engineering
  • Strong problem solving skills. Must be able to identify obstacles to forward progress and navigate around them.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • MS Project
  • Technical Bacherlor's Degree


Strong Pluses

  • Wireless/Cellular Industry knowledge
  • PMP Certification
  • Technical Master's Degree and/or MBA
  • Vehicle Telematics experience
