    In Eden Prairie, Minnesota, the CalAmp Software Engineering Intern will help design, code, and document CalAmp telematics equipment. This engineering position will be working with industry leading mobile routers, GPS trackers and cellular equipment and will be directly responsible for adding software options, software modifications and improvements to CalAmp telematics and IoT devices. Will receive specific supervision as to objectives, approach, and results expected.

    • Responsible for assisting in the development of printer firmware and applications using programming languages such as Python, Perl, and C/C++. Interfaces with other members of the software development team, test engineers and field engineers. Individual is expected to work with a minimum of supervision towards a stated goal.
    • Participate in software and applications development projects.
    • Maintain and support existing software.
    • Develop Unit and Acceptance Tests, and assist in documenting clear, concise and thorough test procedures to support verification that the software satisfies all product requirements.
    • Create and maintain project schedules and report on project status, activities and issues.
    • Ensure software developed satisfies CalAmp’s quality standards, and is implemented in a timely and cost effective manner.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.



    Must Haves

    • In progress towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
    • Experience with high level programming languages such as C/C++, Java, and/or .NET
    • Experience with scripting languages such as Perl and/or Python
    • Solid understanding of network communications and protocols (such as TCP/IP and BSD sockets)
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Self-motivatation and self-management
    • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to work well in both small and large groups
    • Ability to learn quickly


    Strong Pluses

    • Experience workiing with Raspberry Pi, wi-fi, and BLE protocols
