Currently, we are seeking a Firmware Engineer II with 3-10 years of experience, based in Carlsbad, California. Responsibilities

  • Solve challenging problems related to vehicle communication protocol in embedded systems
  • Provide technical direction through analysis and protocol validation of captured data
  • Remain current on industry standards and best practices through conferences, trade shows and OEM visits
  • Interpret captured data and test results to drive product innovation while maintaining compliance
  • Work with technologies such as CAN, Kline, J1708, and serial communications.
  • Understand system requirements and translate them into firmware requirements 
  • Work with hardware designers to start-up and troubleshoot new product designs 
  • Work with Customer Support Engineers to identify, troubleshoot and resolve product performance issues 
  • Work with Production Validation team to ensure reliable product performance 
  • Responsible for owning and driving technical issues to resolution 
  • Coordinate with other engineering teams for successful product launch and support 

Qualifications

Must Haves

  • 3-10 years of experience developing embedded systems and firmware, device drivers on a resource constrained embedded environment
  • Strong background in vehicle communication protocols including ISO 14229, SAE J1979, SAE J1939 or ISO 27145 (CANbus, CANalyzer, etc.)
  • Expertise in writing tests to validate software in automated test environments
  • Advanced proficiency in C programming
  • Experience with k-line protocols
  • Experience in RTOS, Linux, or ThreadX
  • Experience in board bringup
  • Experience with protocols SPI, I2C, USB etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Software/Computer/Automotive Engineering or similiar

 

Strong Pluses

  • Exposure to ECU or scantool design and validation
